Domestic violence is still a common problem in the whole society. Home is no longer just a place of safety and love, but also hell for victims of domestic violence, especially in the context of Covid-19, running away or calling for help is a difficult thing. It is extremely necessary to amend the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence in the above context.
December 7 and 8, 2021, within the framework of the cooperation program for the State of Law Dialogue between the Ministry of Justice of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection of Germany, supported by the Cooperation Fund International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) of Germany, the Vietnam Bar Association organized a “Workshop to share international experiences in developing a Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control”. Apra Law is extremely honored to participate in writing comments on the draft Law and presenting comments at the Workshop.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Dinh Hoang Loc – representative of Apra Law Firm emphasized: “Facing existing and existing problems, the Draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Prevention of Violence families need to make specific adjustments to further promote the spirit of the Law”.
Some outstanding proposals of Apra Law regarding the draft Law include
Firstly, the Law needs stronger mechanisms to identify acts of mental harm and has a mechanism to ensure enforcement; at the same time protect the weaker members in family relations.
Secondly, the revised contents of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control need to have other sanctioning mechanisms besides administrative violations.
Thirdly, it is necessary to further promote the responsibility of dissemination, communication, and education, focusing on conveying messages about family, human rights, and equality, thereby raising the awareness of each individual in the community.
